FLORIDA - 3B Miguel Cabrera (shoulder) is probable Friday vs Washington. Cabrera took batting practice Thursday during a mandatory team workout and said he likely would be ready to go tonight. Cabrera jammed his left shoulder diving for a ball on Saturday, pulled out of the Home Run Derby and struck out in a pinch at-bat Tuesday in the All-Star Game. He said he still was feeling discomfort in the shoulder, but thought it likely he would be able to play tonight against the Nationals. Said manager Gonzalez: “I expect him to be ready to go.”

TEXAS - 1B Mark Teixeira (quad) expected to be activated Friday vs LA Angels. The Rangers were planning to option OF Victor Diaz to Triple-A Oklahoma today to make room for Teixeira on the roster. Diaz did not make the trip to California with the club. Teixeira is preparing to return to the lineup Friday for the first time since straining his left quadriceps muscle June 9. He made a rehab assignment for Double-A Frisco on Wednesday night and went 0-for-2 with two walks. He said his leg felt good, he saw the ball well, and he’s looking forward to rejoining his teammates in Anaheim.
