The Phillies face a pitcher tonight that has already beaten them twice this season.

Willis (6-3, 4.86 ERA) won his two starts against the Phillies in April despite yielding eight runs and 16 hits in 12 1-3 innings. He is 8-5 with a 3.78 ERA in 18 starts against Philadelphia, and comes into this game with a projected era of 3.96

The left-hander earned a win in his last start, allowing two runs and five hits while striking out seven in seven innings to beat Tampa Bay 7-2 on Saturday night. Willis, though, gave up two home runs in that game and has allowed at least one in eight of his 10 starts.

Philadelphia will comes with Jon Lieber (2-2, 3.00 ERA), who also got a victory in his last outing, giving up three runs and six hits while striking out seven in seven innings to beat Toronto 5-3 on Friday night and comes into this one with a projected era of 3.61

Lieber has given up three runs or less in five of his six starts. The right-hander is 9-8 with a 4.97 ERA in 22 starts against the Marlins.

Lieber, however, may not have closer Brett Myers to back him up. Myers left Wednesday’s game with a right shoulder strain in the ninth, and the team said he may return home Thursday for further examination.

Myers has six saves in seven chances for the Phillies, and his ERA is 2.61 since moving to the bullpen. The Marlins tied the game with four runs in the ninth, all charged to Myers.

Silva (2-4, 3.56 ERA) has posted a respectable 4.26 ERA over his last three outings, but all of

them have been losses as he has only received one total run of support. On Wednesday, he allowed a season-high five runs and seven hits in six innings of a 7-1 loss at Cleveland.

The Twins (20-23) have failed to score any runs for Silva in four of his eight starts this season.

The Twins failed to earn a three-game sweep at Milwaukee when they squandered a three-run lead Sunday and dropped the series finale 6-5. Michael Cuddyer hit a three-run homer for Minnesota, which did not score after the fourth inning.

The Twins fell to 2-4 on their nine-game road trip.

The Rangers are 1-8 in games started by Padilla, who is allowing left-handed batters to hit .337 against him.

Twins first baseman Justin Morneau will try to take advantage of Padilla’s struggles against lefties and continue his own success at Texas. The reigning AL MVP hit .391 with three homers and eight RBIs in six games at Rangers Ballpark last season.

The clubs split those six meetings, but Texas won the overall season series 5-4.

NBA Conference Playoffs by Tommy Mac

The NBA is starting to heat up as the conference finals begin. Teams are making moves for the right players to make their last ditch efforts to make the NBA finals. A ton of furor is just about to get under way.

The first round was a best of 5 series while the other 3 are best of 7. In theory, every team that made the playoffs has an equal chance at winning the title.

You instead need to consider variables that are postseason unique. Some items that fall into this category would include must win situations vs. talent mismatches, coaching adjustments from the previous game vs. existing team logical thought and past playoff trends vs. this years playoff trends. Let’s quickly review these three.

Must win situation vs. talent mismatch - Must win situations can make a team play with tremendous tenacity, but sometimes the talent disparity will outweigh the motivation.

Coaching adjustments from a previous game vs. existing team thinking - Will a coach radically adjust his team’s approach to amend for the previous game’s shortcoming? Or will he stick to his guns and go with the same thinking that put his team there in the first place? This has a particularly strong effect on a game’s total.

Past playoff trends vs. this year’s playoff trends - Carefully balance and ascertain past playoff trends from this years trends. The past is a great indicator of the future, but times do change and more importantly; oddsmakers adjust. Make sure you decipher the trends that still work from the trends that are obsolete.

Betting On The NBA Can Make You Some Easy Cash and with the NBA Playoffs in full swing, there are several games that will be very appealing to watch. The Reds try to close out a frustrating road trip with another victory Sunday when they wrap up a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field.

The Reds (17-26) beat Cleveland 10-5 yesterday for just their second win in their last 10 road games. Cincinnati improved to 2-6 on their current trip, which also included series against the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego and ends today.

Paul Byrd (3-1, 3.49 ERA) will take the mound for Cleveland. He allowed five runs in seven innings of Tuesday’s 15-7 win over Minnesota, bouncing back after not receiving a decision in his previous two starts, both 3-2 losses.

Byrd is 3-0 with a 3.79 ERA in three starts at home this year. He is 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in 13 career appearances, including six starts, against Cincinnati.

The veteran right-hander held the Reds scoreless over 14 total innings in two starts against them last season, going 1-0 in those outings.

Cincinnati counters with Aaron Harang (5-1, 4.42), who returned to the team Sunday after being placed on bereavement leave Thursday to be with his ailing grandfather.

Harang allowed just one run - on an eighth-inning balk - and two hits in nine innings of Cincinnati’s 12-inning, 2-1 win in San Diego on Tuesday but allowed four walks for the first time since July 19, 2004, ending a string of 88 starts with three or fewer.

Harang had allowed five runs in each of his previous three starts, but was 2-1 over that span. He is getting an average of 7.47 runs of support per outing, the third best average in the NL.

The right-hander has pitched well against the Indians, going 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in five career starts against them.

Both of these pitchers are evenly matched up here with projected era’s of 5.47 for Harang and 5.58 for Byrd.

The Public is all over the Tribe here in this one, with Cincy’s bats coming alive yesterday, I’ll go against the Public for Pizza.
