BEFORE CRACK

Down and out Whitney Houston was dealt yet another blow when ex-hubby, Bobby Brown, filed a law suit to change the terms of custody of their teen daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
In court documents filed in Orange County yesterday, Brown explains that he was just too screwed up after the breakup to properly handle a custody battle. “After Whitney and I separated, I had nowhere to go and very little money to live on. I was, for all intents and purposes, homeless.” That’s why he failed to respond to Whitney’s petition for custody in time, and why she was ultimately deemed the primary parent.
It was just over a year ago that the one time pop diva topped the web search charts following a story that Whitney had gone on a drug binge. The story itself was supported by photos or a very “washed out” Whitney Houston.
Here in Costa Rica, Bet33.com, had been offering wagering on Whitney Houston including what she would do next.
In addition to the allegations about drug abuse, Houston’s appearance has led to speculation that she was anorexic, had an eating disorder, or experienced weight loss in conjunction with the drug usage. In particular, Houston’s appearance at the 30th anniversary concert for singer Michael Jackson elicited a strong response
On January 3, 2007, the New York Post reported that “in an embarrassing financial scare last year, Houston. . .nearly lost her spectacular $6 million, 10-acre estate in Morris County because she owed tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes.” The article then went on to detail how Houston was selling hundreds of her famous stage outfits and accessories at an auction, including intimate undergarments, in “an event that could earn her hundreds of thousands of dollars in welcome cash.” The Toronto Star newspaper reported on January 4, 2007, that the items were being sold “in an effort to cover unpaid storage fees.” Reuters reported on that same date that Houston was “being forced to sell off clothes, instruments and sound equipment to pay a debt to a warehouse storing the items” and that the sale “has been ordered by the New Jersey Superior Court.”

Houston lost her Atlanta estate in a foreclosure sale in November 2006 because mortgage payments were in arrears. On November 16, 2006, the Associated Press reported that Houston’s mansion in Mendham, New Jersey, currently assessed at $5.6 million, was due to be sold at a sheriff’s sale in January 2007 because of more than $1 million in unpaid mortgage payments and taxes.
Houston has reportedly undergone a successful intense rehabilitation process and is currently recording an album that will be released in the fall of 2007.

The U.S. attorney for Utah on Friday announced charges against various individuals and companies involved in the processing of payments for online gambling operations.
The news came as a shock that anyone with even the brain the size of a pea would be processing payments for online gambling operators in a state that does not even have a lottery.
None of the companies mentioned in the complaint were using the processors in question following the passage of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) last October. In fact, one of the companies named, BetonSports, was shut down nearly a year ago.
The defendants live in Las Vegas, but two of the companies involved were based in Draper, a Salt Lake City suburb, according to the indictment.
“We now have a body of information technology and strategy that can cross many jurisdictions,” U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman said at a news conference.
The indictment claims banks issuing Visa and MasterCard credit cards were fooled into processing Internet gambling charges. Defendants also channeled Western Union wire transfers through the Philippines.
The 34-count indictment includes charges of racketeering conspiracy, bank fraud, transmission of wagers and money laundering.
The seven defendants are accused of creating three companies to conduct fraudulent credit card and wire transfers for their clients - online gaming sites based outside the U.S., the indictment said.
The first company, CurrenC and CurrenC Worldwide, based in other countries including Korea, Jamaica and the United Kingdom, processed most of the credit card and wire transfers. But two companies, Hill Financial Services and Gateway Technologies, based in Utah, and are accused of providing accounting and technical services for the illegal business and were used to track transactions, Tolman said.
An investigation is ongoing to determine if employees at the Utah businesses were aware they were involved in criminal activity and therefore could also face charges, he said.
“There are layers of facade that have to be pulled back and uncovered,” Tolman said.
The indictment seeks to recover $150 million from the defendants as well as real estate, vehicles and other assets under RICO, the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations law.
None of the defendants is in custody, but all are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City on May 30.
Tolman said the government is not seeking their detention pending the hearing because they are not considered flight risks or threats to the community.
Utah has made it clear that they believe all forms of gambling should be illegal, as opposed to Arizona Senator Jon Kyl who believes it is okay to gamble only if betting on horses.

In a battle of the uglies though it may be tuff to watch, it still will be interesting to see how
both teams respond today. In a battle of the bottom feeders, Tampa…well they just continue to be Tampa and the Jays getting a chance to take on someone their own size didn’t disappoint last night. However, one of the fundamental axioms of handicapping ANY sport, is just to keep repeating you yourself over and over and over again.
NEVER TRY AND MAKE A BAD TEAM WIN FOR YOU!
I know that sounds easy, but you would be surprised how many times bad teams keep cropping up looking like a play. For the most part, NEVER take the bottom feeders to try and get you a win in any sport.
But for Domino’s Pizza or your local favorite..I’ll take a shot on a side in this one.
Amidst a rash of injuries, the Toronto Blue Jays finally found a way to boost their spirits.
After snapping their longest losing streak since 2002, the Blue Jays look for back-to-back wins
when they continue their three-game set with the Devil Rays on Saturday at Rogers Centre.
Toronto (14-21) was outscored 72-27 during a nine-game skid, its longest since dropping nine in a row of April 24-May 3, 2002. In Friday’s series opener, the Blue Jays ended the slide with a 5-1 win as Jason Phillips hit a two-run double and Alex Rios homered.
The win came at a price, though, as third baseman Troy Glaus suffered an apparent leg injury while running out a fly ball in the first inning. He felt a pop, according to Gibbons, and won’t
play Saturday. Toronto also lost ace Roy Halladay for four to six weeks on Friday, after he underwent an emergency appendectomy.
Those injuries came just a day after the team lost closer B.J. Ryan for the season after he had ligament replacement surgery on his left elbow, and put right-hander Victor Zambrano on the
15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm.
Their depleted roster notwithstanding, the Blue Jays will go for a fourth straight victory against Tampa Bay (14-21) and second series win over their AL East rival this season.
The Devil Rays have been outscored 30-13 during their season-high five-game losing streak. Elijah
Dukes homered in Friday’s loss for Tampa Bay, which stranded 11 runners for the second time in three games.
Edwin Jackson (0-5, 6.99 ERA) takes the mound still seeking his first win in two seasons with the Devil Rays. The right-hander’s last victory came on Sept. 26, 2005, while with the Los Angeles
Dodgers.
He allowed four runs and six hits over 6 1-3 innings in a 5-3 defeat to Oakland on Sunday, although he retired 11 straight at one point in his longest start of the season.
Jackson has made just one scoreless relief appearance in his career against the Blue Jays.
Toronto will counter with Dustin McGowan (0-0, 9.00), who makes his second major league start of the season.
The right-hander was called up from Triple-A Syracuse on May 3, when Gustavo Chacin went on the disabled list with a sore shoulder. McGowan allowed five runs and six hits over five innings of that day’s 6-5 defeat to Cleveland.
He walked five, struck out four and threw only 57 of his 108 pitches for strikes.
McGowan has made one career relief appearance against the Devil Rays, holding them to one hit over two scoreless innings.
I’ve got the better pitcher in this one well SLIGHTLY… However with only one start McGowan gave up 6 hits and 5 runs in just 5 innings on his only start, but that was against the Tribe.
Jackson has been just consistently HORRIBLE. Belly up to the buffet table boys. Coming into this one with a projected era of 14.51. Looks like an EZ over the total for sure, but can either
one of these teams hit a lick today? That remains to be seen especially with Gloss out of the line up.
For Pizza..I’ll take a shot backing McGowan and the TORONTO BLUE JAYS -128 LIST the Pitchers in this one..
Good Luck,
Tommy Mac
